参观考察完毕后，人们又回到了办公室。薛茜女士和大卫先生坐在大办公桌的左侧，郄总、黄主任和白杨坐在他们的对面。先让客人吃了点水果，瓜子，然后书归正传。
“薛总，请问一下大卫先生他们比利时迈杰国际贸易有限公司对原毛的需求量大吗？”郄总开始对薛茜说道。
“How about our company's demand for raw wool?”薛茜转述给大卫。
“Well, our company needs very much wool every year. We supply most of the textile mills throughout Europe. Our raw wool is mainly from Australia, Soviet Union, New Zealand, Argentina, China and so on, among which China's sheep wool accounts for a considerable proportion.”大卫看着郄总说道。
“哦，我们公司每年的羊毛需求量非常大，我们为整个欧洲地区的大部分纺织厂提供着原料。我们的原毛主要来自澳大利亚、苏联、新西兰、阿根廷、中国等，其中中国的绵羊毛占相当大的比重。”薛茜直译无误。
“您看我们这里羊毛怎么样，你们大概需要多少吨？”
郄总继续追问大卫，看来他要涉及核心问题了。
“What do you think of the wool here? How many tons do you need？”薛茜翻译给大卫先生。
“Well, we decide the quantity we take mainly according to the quality of wool.And…”大卫回答说。
大卫的话还没说完，薛茜立刻打断，并把内容转述给郄总。
“嗯，我们主要根据羊毛质量来决定我们所要的数量。”
薛茜刚用汉语给郄总说完，又迫不及待地用英文与大卫交流。
“You can tell him that the fine wool will be bought at half fine wool, so that we could reduce it from 4000 yuan to 3000 yuan per ton. What's more, you and I will get 500 yuan more per ton of net profit in addition to the original profit sharing. Besides, you can say that the hybrid wool is too rough. If the price of rough wool is 1200 yuan per ton, then we both make 400 yuan more, OK?”
大卫根据薛茜的意见，开始给郄总摊牌。

Therefore, I can only buy those fine wool at the price of half fine wool at 3,000 yuan per ton. As for the hybrid wool, I can only pay 1200 yuan per ton.”
当薛茜和大卫说这段话的时候，坐在对面的白杨假装对英语一窍不通，只好表面傻乎乎地看着薛茜，装聋作哑，不敢伸手拿笔记录在本子里，而暗地里，竖耳细听，铭记在心。当薛茜说汉语的时候，他乘机迅速把他们俩交流的英文内容记录在本子上。
实际上，薛茜根本一点儿都没注意到白杨的反应，她又非常从容地开始给郄总翻译大卫的话了。
“大卫先生说，通过刚才的参观考察，他发现这里细毛的的质量达不到他们也收购的标准，这些问题主要体现在羊毛的细度、卷曲、色泽、强度以及草杂含量等方面。因此，那些细羊毛他只能按半细毛的价格，每吨3000元收购。至于那些杂种毛每吨他只能付1200元。"
现在的白杨有些坐立不安，心急如焚，生怕郄总中了他们的圈套。
