Today, due to something unexpected, I came late and kept you waiting for so long. I'm really sorry. Please forgive me.”
白杨首先用英语进行了简短的开场白：
“同学们，老师们，大家好！
今天由于遇到一件突发事情我被迫不得不来晚了，叫你们久等了，非常抱歉，请大家原谅！”
虽然他的声音有些疲惫嘶哑，但流露出来的感情十分真挚，语气非常自然、缓和，瞬间就营造出一个令师生都全神贯注听他讲课的良好氛围。
“All right, now I'm going to start the class.Today we're going to talk about Mountaineering and Other Physical Activities.”
白杨淡定地话锋一转，书归正传，开始上课，并将今日要谈论的话题“Mountaineering and Other Physical Activities”从从容容写在黑板顶部的中央位置，并在它下方画了一幅登山运动的简笔画。
紧接着，他走下讲台，开始询问坐在前排右侧一位瘦小脆弱的女生： “Hi,what's your name?”
"My name's Yaohong."女孩子立刻站了起来，并做出回答。
"Oh,it sounds very nice. Can you tell me what kind of sports you like?"
"I like walking and swimming."姚红又回答道。
"Good,please go to write ‘walking and swimming‘ on the left of the blackboard."白杨叫姚红到教室前把walking 和 swimming写在黑板的左边。
姚红在去黑板完成任务的同时，白杨继续沿着右侧通道向后排走去，并在一个五大三粗的男同学旁边停了下来。
"Hi,your name?"
"I’m Jiangshan."男同学起身答道。
"Oh,You are so tall and strong that you look like a mountain. I think you must be fond of physical activities，right?"
白杨面带微笑，继续问道："白杨对他说道："哦，你又高又壮，看起来像座山。我想你一定喜欢体育运动，对吗?"。
"What does the word physical mean,teacher?"江山看来遇到了生词，便反问白杨说。
"Oh,physical is connected with a person‘s body rather than his or her mind.So physical activities are not brain or mental activities.For esample,football, basketball, or climbing mountains and so on, are all physical sports,not mental sports."
白杨边说边用肢体语言解释着，"哦，physical是指体力的，而不是脑力的。所以physical运动不是mental运动。例如，足球、篮球或爬山等都是体力运动，而不是脑力运动。"
然后，他走回到黑板前，并把physical 和 mental两个单词写在黑板上。
"Oh.I see,I like clmbing mountains."江山明白后立刻回答道。
"OK.You also come to the blackboard and write‘ clmbing mountains‘on it. "白杨又叫江山把clmbing mountains写在黑板上去。
江山上去之后，白杨又开始鼓励同学们说："Now,everyone besides Yaohong and Jiangshan,you can talk of what sports you enjoy with other students or teachers."
白杨说完之后，所有学生，包括听课老师都彼此踊跃活动了起来。
坐在前门右侧的外语组长贾丽老师看到此情此景，内心感受到一种强烈的震撼：真是艺高人胆大！
